The Resort officially kicked off the summer with our Memorial Day celebration. We had the Elm Street Band on Saturday Night and let me tell you they were awesome. They played a great mix of music that had the crowd on their feet dancing and swaying to the music. The Taco Man was here as well, and I tell you his tacos get better and better every time! The 4-in-1 trampoline was a great hit with the kids of all ages. It was a hoot to see parents trying to outdo their kids with their outrageous jumping and flipping.
This summer, we have two returning couples - Claudia and George Bist and Jaylin and Byron Bailey - as our activities hosts. They have been working extra hard to coordinate activities to make your Resort stay extra special. There will be Meditation Mondays, Mexican Train Tuesdays, Crafting Wednesdays, Toning Thursdays, as well as Yoga on Saturdays. Additionally, they have planned some fun times for our Happy Hours at the Sunset Pavilion, blow-out holiday weekend festivities, special children’s activities, crafts, health and fitness activities, and much more. We will have all of the bases covered - there’ll be something for everyone! Make your reservations now because sites fill quickly during this special time of year!
Until we see your smiles, Safe Travels,
Andrea LaValley, GM

The Gossip Board
In May, the Cindy Ross Vintage Trailer Rally held their fourth gathering at Chula Vista RV Resort. The Rally consists of a random group of people who have vintage trailers and love to meet up to have a good time together. As a special treat for Resort guests, the Rally held a one-day open house where everyone could see the inside of their trailers and get a feel for the “vintage life”. The Rally, which was started by Cindy Ross back in 2014, is now run by her mother, Barbara Shields, and Carol Lofthause. They plan fun weekends of meet and greet, margarita happy hours, and catered dinners so that everyone can sit back enjoy the weekend and get to know each other. If you want to have a chance to see them next year, plan to be at the park May 9th -12th of 2019. For more information, feel free to email Barbara at Barbarashields@aol.com.

SAN DIEGO WOODEN BOAT FESTIVAL

Koehler Kraft Boat Yard on Shelter Island
A San Diego Father’s Day weekend tradition, the San Diego Wooden Boat Festival is the premier annual event for Southern California wooden boat enthusiasts and provides a rare opportunity for the general public to view some of the most beautiful and well maintained wooden crafts up close. While this event features mostly well-preserved vintage vessels, there are also plenty of new crafts that have been handcrafted with skill and meticulous detail. The weekend festivities include live music, a galley generously run by members of the Koehler Family along with a few dedicated volunteers, a variety of booths, activities for children, and a raffle with a large assortment of valuable items donated from local businesses. The popularity of the event has lead Koehler Kraft to use the proceeds to benefit local charities. Cost is $5 - for more information visit their web page at www.sdwoodenboatfestival.org
