*Happy New Year From Chula Vista RV Resort*
News From Our Resort to You
Wow! 2018 snuck up on me - I am sure it did you as well. Now that the holidays are officially over, it's time to plan a little time for yourself. What better way to relax and unwind than by taking in some great music? We are lucky as San Diego is a great place to be if you enjoy good music. There are several local venues that are great places to go for the views as well as the music. Humphrey's Backstage Music Club is one of my favorites, up on Shelter Island, where they book a varied musical lineup (our local favorite, John Bowe, plays there with his band occasionally). The San Diego Youth Symphony Chamber Orchestra is hosting guest soloist Celino Romero (from the Royal Family of Guitars - the Romeros) on guitar as the San Diego Symphony kicks off their month-long celebration of sound this month. And of course, the Resort hosts our own musical events - our annual Concert on the Green series begins Saturday, January 13th at 4 pm - and then we have our Tuesday and Friday Happy Hours. So, pull out the calendar and make a little time for you to enjoy some of the great music that San Diego has to offer .
Happy New Year Everyone from all of us at the Resort!

New Year's Club & Coastal Cruizers
A big THANK YOU goes to all the Happy Campers for all their hard work and dedication in making the Resort light up for our Winter Wonderland Weekend, which was December 8th and 9th. This was their 16th year, and I tell you it just keeps getting better every year! At 2 pm Saturday afternoon there arose such a clatter - I sprang from my desk to see what's the matter - It was Santa, Mrs. Claus and some of their elves annual parading through the Resort! It was wonderful to see the children's faces light up with joy.
I put up a challenge in the December newsletter asking for donations for the Marines and their Toys for Tots program and, wow, did you all respond! We had 5 collection bins full of toys as well as monetary donations. The Marines were impressed with such an outpouring of generosity. Thank you so much for making sure those children in San Diego had a new toy for Christmas.
This month, we are fortunate to share the story of a couple who have been coming here over 22 years. They are Jim and Janet Lamphere.
Married 22 years ago, their birthdays are two days apart. You can't tell that they're 81 years young, because they're so active around the park. Jim bikes around the park six miles every day. It is one of his favorite things to do at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina. Janet loves bingo and organizing game events here. Over the summer, she leads a group of ladies to play weekly games such as Hand & Foot and Mexican Train.
This is their first winter here at the Resort. The location of the park was essential for being closer to Janet's daughter, Lynda, who resided 20 minutes away at Noah Homes. The Lamphere's were so glad they were able to see her more often so close by. Lynda passed away, in October, from the effects of Alzheimer's disease. The Lamphere's were touched by the outpouring of love for Lynda, not only at Noah Homes, but also from the Chula Vista RV Resort community. It was a blessing at this very sad time in their lives.
Jim and Janet have decided to go "full time" for a year and rally with various RV groups where they're members, such as the California Chapter of FMCA, FMCA Elks, FMCA 4 Wheelers, Elks Lodge, and Rotary RV Group. They plan to return to the Chula Vista RV Resort this coming summer.
