*Happy Holidays from Our Family to Yours*
News From Our Resort to You
I am exhausted - bet you are, too! The holidays, as much as I look forward to them, always hit me afterwards like a train wreck. Too much work, too much food, spent too much money. Well, let's ignore that and have some serious "it's all about me" planning. There are always lots of "me time" experiences you can enjoy in January. Take a drive to the Sunset Cliffs and soak in the meditative atmosphere as well as the gorgeous sunsets. Take a walk in La Jolla for a little after the holiday "me" shopping and then head down to the tide pools. It is one of my favorite spots for relaxing and having some in touch with nature time. Not the "nature" type - no worries! Join us on Wednesdays at the Resort for some yoga and stretching. It's all about you, so make your reservations soon to join us for the Winter Season .
Until we see your smiles, safe travels,
Andrea LaValley, GM

The El Camino Real Airstream Club was here recently. They are such a fun and involved group that we couldn't resist sharing their story with everyone. The club is a division of WBCCI that covers the southern coastal region of California. They rally once per month on 5-day trips. The group's philosophy is to have fun, see new things, become educated, donate back to the area they're visiting, and leave it better than when they arrived. Bill Kerfoot, who has been a member since 2002, said that one of the events the club does (that he really enjoys) is the rally near the Balloon Fiesta Grounds in Arizona. During that rally, participating club members have the perfect view of the balloons gliding over their camp location. Another event that Bill really enjoyed was the once in a lifetime rally for last summer's solar eclipse.
While the El Camino Real Airstream Club was visiting the Chula Vista RV Resort, they held an open house for anyone in the Resort to tour their Airstreams. This was a delightful treat! Later in the evening, the club not only enjoyed our Veterans Day fundraiser, but also pulled out their ukuleles and violins to prolong the party. Kathy and Tommy Green said that one of the things they love about the club is its large group of musicians who love to form music circles and invite anyone to join.
The club visits Chula Vista RV Resort every year because they love the Resort's cleanliness and group meeting facilities. The Mayor of Chula Vista, Mary Casillas Salas, came to the park to visit the club on Veterans Day because the chapter president, Mary Zico, has strong community ties with Chula Vista. Some of the charitable events the club has conducted include sponsoring an equestrian center for veterans, raising money for the Fisher House, and creating elaborate baskets for auction with proceeds donated to area charities.
The El Camino Real Airstream Club is definitely "Living the Airstream Dream"!
The El Camino Real Airstream Club was not the only one to enjoy the Veteran's Day weekend. On November 11th, we hosted an old-fashioned street concert where George James crooned some much loved oldies and goodies. The Resort's activities staff made several roasters full of their world-famous beef stew, which sure reminded me of what mom used to make! San Diego, being the military town that it is, we honored our veterans by making the night a fundraising event for Veterans of America. All told, the night generated a $756 donation. A rousing "thank you" to all who participated! It made our hearts proud to mail those donations.

What to Do in San Diego
SAN DIEGO BAY PARADE OF LIGHTS

The 46th annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights will be on Sunday, December 10 and 17. The winter months mean better sunsets. Make a point to watch the sun set over the Pacific Ocean one evening when you're in San Diego - it's a must-see experience!
Head to the Sunset Cliffs National Park for a pre-sunset walk along the coastline and one of the best views of the sunset. Drive up to Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial to see the famous landmark and watch the sun set with a view of the San Diego skyline. Or, go out to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve for classic, oceanside sunset views.
The winter season is the best time of year to go whale watching in San Diego. During the annual migration from the Bering Sea to the shores of Baja, California, an estimated 20,000 gray whales pass through the waters off the San Diego coast. The San Diego Whale Watch guarantees a whale sighting during their 3 ½-hour cruises, but be sure to look out for dolphins, sea lions, and migrating birds, too. You'll even be able to listen to whale and dolphin sounds in real time. Visit their website for more information at www.sdwhalewatch.com.
